Cable Deadlifts
How to perform
- 01Move the cables to the bottom of the towers and select an appropriate weight. Stand directly in between the uprights.
- 02To begin, squat down be flexing your hips and knees until you can reach the handles.
- 03After grasping them, begin your ascent. Driving through your heels extend your hips and knees keeping your hands hanging at your side. Keep your head and chest up throughout the movement.
- 04After reaching a full standing position, Return to the starting position and repeat.
Form cues
- Brace your core before the first rep and keep it braced.
- Lead with the elbows and finish by squeezing the target muscle.
- Control the lowering phase — that is where most of the growth stimulus lives.
Common mistakes
- Using momentum instead of the target muscle.
- Cutting the range of motion short to add load.
- Adding weight before the movement pattern is clean.
