Single-Leg High Box Squat

How to perform

  1. 01Position a box in a rack. Secure a band or rope in place above the box.
  2. 02Standing in front of it, step onto the box to a full standing position, letting your other leg remain unsupported. Hold onto the band for balance
  3. 03. Continue stepping up and down on the same leg before switching to the opposite side.

Form cues

  • Brace your core before the first rep and keep it braced.
  • Drive through the full range — do not cut the lockout short.
  • Control the lowering phase — that is where most of the growth stimulus lives.

Common mistakes

  • Using momentum instead of the target muscle.
  • Cutting the range of motion short to add load.
  • Adding weight before the movement pattern is clean.
