One-Arm Kettlebell Snatch

How to perform

  1. 01Place a kettlebell between your feet. Bend your knees and push your butt back to get in the proper starting position.
  2. 02Look straight ahead and swing the kettlebell back between your legs.
  3. 03Immediately reverse the direction and drive through with your hips and knees, accelerating the kettlebell upward. As the kettlebell rises to your shoulder rotate your hand and punch straight up, using momentum to receive the weight locked out overhead.

Form cues

  • Brace your core before the first rep and keep it braced.
  • Lead with the elbows and finish by squeezing the target muscle.
  • Control the lowering phase — that is where most of the growth stimulus lives.

Common mistakes

  • Using momentum instead of the target muscle.
  • Cutting the range of motion short to add load.
  • Adding weight before the movement pattern is clean.
