Standing Dumbbell Straight-Arm Front Delt Raise Above Head

How to perform

  1. 01Hold the dumbbells in front of your thighs, palms facing your thighs.
  2. 02Keep your arms straight with a slight bend at the elbows but keep them locked. This will be your starting position.
  3. 03Raise the dumbbells in a semicircular motion to arm's length overhead as you exhale.
  4. 04Slowly return to the starting position using the same path as you inhale.
  5. 05Repeat for the recommended amount of repetitions.

Form cues

  • Drive through the full range — do not cut the lockout short.
  • Control the lowering phase — that is where most of the growth stimulus lives.

Common mistakes

  • Using momentum instead of the target muscle.
  • Cutting the range of motion short to add load.
